Probe

Zirtek ZKA Series Probes are designed for in-situ installation in temperatures up to 2900 degrees F. The internals of all probes are identical. However, there are twenty different probes offered that vary by length and sheath material. Four standard sheath materials are available: Stainless Steel High Temperature Alloy Silicon Carbide Alumina. and five standard lengths: 18 through 42 inches.
These combinations allow the user to select a cost effective probe for each application. Custom materials and lengths can be provided upon request.
Two simple field connections are required. A four conductor, 2 twisted pair, copper-copper, with overall shield, signal cable must be ran between the probe and the analyzer electronics. Termination of the four con-ductors in the probe terminal box is made on the barrier strip. Terminals 1 & 2 are for the cell mV signal and 3 & 4 are for the thermocouple. T/C extension wire is not required. The shield should be grounded at one end only - normally at the electronics end of the cable. Clean, dry, ambient air must be supplied to the 1/4 inch tubing fitting at a nominal rate of 0.1 SCFH. A supply pressure of approximately 5 psig is sufficient. Isolated installations are running on bypass blower air or "fish tank" air pumps.

Probe mounting fittings are either 1.5 inch Male Pipe Thread (MNPT) or 1.0 inch MNPT depending on the sheath material selected. The transition, including mounting fitting, from terminal head to sheath is stain-less steel. The terminal box is cast aluminum. The ref-erence air fitting is supplied in brass unless stainless steel is requested. Analyzer systems are supplied with flange adapters. A 2 inch RF ANSI flange is standard. Other sizes are supplied upon request. Minimum recommended hole size through the vessel wall is 2 inches in diameter. In any case, the installer needs to ensure that the probe sheath is not contacted by the structure. Soft, fibrous refractories are not a problem.
